CanAm Results

Two weeks ago, we hosted the inaugural CanAm Tournament, and it was an overwhelming success!

The week was filled with exciting competition, outstanding sportsmanship, and challenging matches featuring some of the most talented and experienced shuffleboard players from both Canada and the United States.

Canada had an exceptional showing, placing five teams in the Top 8, including five players from our very own club. Following the round-robin competition, Canada led the way with 425 points compared to the United States 375 points. Go Canada!

🥇
1st Place – Canada
Neta DenOtter, Gideon Carriere, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Vicky Moroz

🥈 2nd Place – Canada
Trevor Martin, Pete Hildebrand, Clancy MacDonald, and Brad Sawchuk

🥉 3rd Place – USA
Ruth Hugen, Abby Manville, Drew Applebaum, and Mark Bender

🏅 4th Place – Canada
Dotty Koert, Ruby Karpetz, Collette Carlisle, and Marilyn Sanders

While the competition was outstanding, what truly made this event special was the incredible effort of our volunteers. More than 30 volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the week to ensure every player felt welcomed, comfortable, and appreciated, while keeping our courts in exceptional condition.

The feedback from both Canadian and American participants was overwhelmingly positive. Several visiting players were so impressed with our club and hospitality that they chose to become members, and we even received an anonymous donation of $500 in support of our efforts.

Rumour has it that some of our American friends think Beaumont should host all future CanAm tournaments!

To recognize the dedication of our volunteers, we hosted an appreciation lunch following the event.  Their commitment, hard work, and enthusiasm were instrumental in making this tournament a success.  Simply saying "thank you" does not seem adequate.

I could not be prouder of our volunteers, our members, and everyone who contributed to making this historic event such a memorable success.

Together, we showcased not only great shuffleboard, but also the warmth, hospitality, and community spirit that make our club so special.

Beaumont Community Support

A special Thank you for helping us deliver a memorable tournament experience for our players, volunteers, spectators, and guests.

Tim Horton’s - A heartfelt thank you goes out to Beaumont Tim Hortons for their incredible generosity and support of our club.  They graciously supplied coffee, donuts, and muffins for our May Singles Tournament, as well as every day of the CanAm Tournament.

Their contribution helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our players, volunteers, and visitors, and was greatly appreciated by everyone who attended.

We encourage our members to stop by, enjoy their many delicious offerings, and let them know you're part of our shuffleboard community.  Be sure to thank them for their outstanding support of our club and events!

Festa Catering - We contacted Festa Catering on short notice to provide lunches for our Canada–USA Floor Shuffleboard Tournament, and they were incredibly accommodating, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process.

The food was fresh, delicious, and well received by all of our players and volunteers.  The Taco Bar was a particular favourite, while the chili lunch and the assortment of soups, sandwiches, and wraps also enjoyed by everyone.  If you need any catering you can find them at

June Activities

We're thinking it may be time to add some fun new activities to our schedule this June or July!

In the past, we've enjoyed events such as obstacle courses, costume days, and Battle of the Sexes competitions. We'd love to hear your ideas for other fun, creative, or friendly challenges that could bring some extra excitement to the club.

Do you have a suggestion? We'd love to hear it!

Please text your ideas to Vicky Moroz at (780) 719-5383.

Let's make this summer even more fun!

Growing our shuffleboard community is key to keeping our club thriving, and we’d love your help in spreading the word.
