PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Updates

New Scoreboard Stands

Throughout the season, the Board has continued to look for ways to improve our operations while reducing costs. One of the most noticeable improvements has been the introduction of our new scoreboard stands.

The new stands are lighter, easier to move and store, and require significantly less storage space during the winter months. Holders for the brushes, markers, and cleaning cloths are

currently being developed and will be added as they become available.

The Board greatly appreciates the ideas, feedback, and suggestions we receive from our members. The new scoreboard stands are a perfect example of how member input can

make a real difference.

A special thank you goes to Collette Carlisle, who suggested the idea. Collette, along with her husband, Rick, designed and built the new stands, generously donated all of their labour and

charged the Association only for the cost of materials.

Your creativity, hard work, and countless hours of personal time have resulted in a practical improvement that will benefit the Association for years to come. On behalf of the Board and all of our members, thank you for your generosity and commitment to making our club even better.

Old Scoreboard Stands for Sale

We have successfully sold the old shelving from several of our scoreboard stands and are currently selling the remaining units.

If you, or someone you know, could use a sturdy workbench or storage shelving for a garage, workshop, or basement, these units are available for purchase.

Dimensions and additional information can be found on the bulletin board in the foyer, as well as on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji.

Scoreboard Replacement Fund

Our scoreboards have served us well over the years, but many are now showing significant wear and tear and are due for replacement.

A few weeks ago, we were able to replace several scoreboards with units that had been in storage. However, a number of the remaining scoreboards are still the older, heavy metal models that require two people to move, while others are simply showing their age and are no longer in good condition.

Replacing the remaining scoreboards will be a significant investment for the Association.

Several members have already expressed an interest in contributing toward a Scoreboard Replacement Fund to help offset the cost.

If you would like to support this project with a donation, please contact Vicky Moroz.

Every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help us continue improving our facilities for all members.

Thank you for your support and generosity.

Season Champion Playoffs

The Season Champion Playoffs will be held on August 19th and 20th. This year's competition will feature a Men's Championship and a Women's Championship.

More details, including the format will be shared over the next few weeks. We look forward to an exciting finish to the season!

Annual General Meeting

Please mark your calendars! Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Tuesday, August 25, at 12:15 p.m.

We'll enjoy our regular morning shuffleboard game, take a break for lunch, and then gather for the AGM.

If there is an item you would like added to the agenda for discussion and possible vote, please contact Vicky Moroz by August 21:

Your input is important, and we encourage all members to participate.

Call for Directors

As our season comes to a close, we will also be saying thank you to two members of our Board of Directors, Charlie Cull and Pat Wilson, who are stepping down from their positions.

We are looking for members who are interested in serving on the Board and helping guide the future of our Association.

If you would like to become more involved and contribute

your ideas, time, and experience, please contact Vicky Moroz by August 21:

Serving on the Board is a rewarding way to support our club and help ensure its continued success.

To our outgoing directors, thank you for your dedication, volunteer service, and the many contributions you've made to our Association. Your commitment has been greatly

appreciated, and we hope we can continue to benefit from your experience and advice in the years ahead.

Warm Winter Storage Needed

Our shuffleboard courts are looking for a warm place to spend the winter!

Last year Wally and Lorna Bentt generously provided space in their basement to store our courts at no cost to the Association. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness and ongoing support. Now that they have downsized, they no longer have the space to accommodate them.

As a non-profit organization, we are always looking for ways to keep expenses down so we can continue to offer affordable membership fees.

If you have a corner of a heated garage, basement, shop, or other indoor space that could accommodate our courts over the winter—or if you know of someone who might—please

contact Vicky Moroz:

If we are unable to find donated storage space, the Association will need to place the courts in paid storage, adding to our operating costs.

Growing our shuffleboard community is key to keeping our club thriving, and we’d love your help in spreading the word.
